Civil Engineer

A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a qualified Civil Engineer to join its growing civil infrastructure team in Johannesburg.

The role will suit an engineer with approximately 5+ years’ civil infrastructure design experience within the built environment, particularly involving roads, bulk earthworks, stormwater, water and sewer infrastructure.

You will work on infrastructure projects across South Africa and elsewhere in Africa, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, from detailed design and drafting through to client liaison and project/site meetings.

This position requires strong practical design capability, particularly using AutoCAD Civil 3D, together with a sound understanding of applicable civil engineering design codes and construction specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake detailed civil engineering design and drafting.

Prepare designs for roads, bulk earthworks and piped infrastructure networks.

Ensure designs comply with relevant technical standards, design codes and internal quality-management procedures.

Take responsibility for the technical aspects of allocated project work.

Participate in client liaison and project coordination.

Attend project and site meetings as required.

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and multi-office project teams.

Minimum Requirements:

BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering.

Approximately 5 years or more relevant civil engineering design experience.

Demonstrated experience in the detailed design of:

Roads

Bulk earthworks

Stormwater infrastructure

Water networks

Sewer networks

Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Familiarity with current civil engineering design codes and construction series specifications.

Must be progressing towards professional registration with ECSA as a PrEng or PrTech Eng.

Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle

Working knowledge of the Infrastructure Design Automation Suite (iDAS) - advantageous.
