Geological Technician

About the Role Our client is seeking a diligent and skilled Geological Technician to support their exploration and mining operations in Rustenburg . In this role, you will assist geologists with field sampling, data collection, and preliminary analysis of geological information. You will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of geological data gathered from exploration sites, contributing to the understanding of mineral deposits. This position offers a blend of field and office-based work, providing valuable experience within the dynamic North West mining landscape, with potential for some remote work on data analysis tasks. Key Responsibilities Collect geological samples (rock, soil, core) from exploration sites, ensuring proper labeling and preservation. Assist geologists with mapping, logging drill core, and documenting geological features in the field. Prepare samples for laboratory analysis and maintain detailed field records. Conduct preliminary data entry and quality control checks on geological information. Operate and maintain basic field equipment and geological tools. Support the preparation of geological reports and presentations under supervision. Requirements National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Geology or a related Earth Science field. 1-3 years of experience in a geological support role, preferably within the mining industry. Basic understanding of geological principles and mineral identification. Familiarity with field sampling techniques and safety protocols. Ability to work independently in outdoor environments and in a team setting. Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
